Email in a perfect world will get to it's destination in an instant. When Email is sent , it never stays still it is in constant movement, so if there is a traffic jam it will ding in another direction and try to make it's way to it's final landing point. Internet traffic can have an email bounce around the world several times before it can access to it's destination.
